Of Interest Lately

Back when I still had my blog over at Blogger, I intermittently posted about what was catching my eye on the inter-webs. I want to bring that series back to this blog as it's a great way of sharing both what's inspiring me and my work, but also what's keeping me focused and grounded, and, no less importantly, simply what's fun and entertaining (to me and maybe to you!)

1. The Two Most Important People in Your Life to Hold You to Your Dreams - a great read if you're looking for encouragement in following your dreams (especially if it's a bit "off the beaten path.")

2. Astrology for April 2015 (by Sarah Varcas) - I LOVE this website for updates on the general astro-weather, especially when there are BIG things happening like eclipses. My love of astrology springs from a belief that everything in this universe is inter-connected in ways that we don't fully understand. I think astrology is a beautiful working metaphor for this way of thinking.

3. Maryanne Moodie's amazing woven art - if you follow me over at Instagram you know I've recently taken up weaving (very, very much on the side). This woman's work is so inspiring to me.

4. Michelle Tea's memoir, How to Grow Up - during my recent sick days I finished reading this great book. I discovered this woman's writing back in my early 20s. She's a bit older than me (early 40s) but the way she writes about growing up when you're not the person who takes the straight shot to steady job, marriage, kids, is very relatable to me.

That's all for this week. Short but sweet. What has caught your eye on the inter-webs lately? I'm always overwhelmed by the wealth of amazing folks and work just waiting to be discovered!

Full Circle: Bits and Pieces of Home

Last week was one of those weeks that's really really great but really really busy. Mainly because of the tradeshow I was wrapping up at. By the end of the week though, there was slow time, and time for cooking at home, and working on crafty projects (other than jewelry =).

Below, an order all packaged up and ready to ship off to The Potting Shed in Fairfax, a corner of my display at the SF Gift Tradeshow, and my new favorite Tangleweeds necklace, the Double Moon Lariat.

Gotta package up more orders today from that aforementioned tradeshow. Don't forget to enter our March giveaway too! It's a good one!

Full Circle - Slowing Down

This last week was mostly spent home sick. Boo-hoo. I have to say, the beginning of a new year is usually when I'm feeling extra-super motivated to start next projects and simply make things happen, so taking a whole week (five days) to slow down and simply care for myself was sort of going against a lot of the cells in my body. Mainly the brain cells. I drank pots and pots of herbal chai, laid around a lot, and actually managed to finish a weaving project.

Below, is the piece I finished. I'm really really proud of her. I named her "Harvest" in honor of the harvesting that I feel like I am doing in a way in my life. I feel like this year is about harvesting the good that has come from a lot of the hard work I've put into Tangleweeds the last five years and harnessing it to fully realize my dreams. . .

Annnnnd, lastly, a couple of great thrift finds worn once the sickies went away. One recent (the crescent moon print dress) and one that I found last year at a little charity shop in Sacramento (the coat). I am seriously in looooove with the dress.

Lastly, if you have noticed, my newest Look-Book, "Everyday Magic" is now posted on the site. It was inspired quite simply by the little things in life, the "everyday magic" we sometimes overlook, but when we slow down and allow ourselves to be present (instead of distracted and stressed to the nines) we get to marvel and wonder over. I hope you enjoy it! Many of the pieces are already available in my Etsy shop. Those that aren't yet will be in the next few weeks to come.

Al righty, lots of jewelry work this week, lots of making and creating to do. If you like to see my daily work, remember you can always follow me/Tangleweeds over here on Instagram.

Have a fabulous week everyone!
